131 years and 6 months after New Bedford’s high school class of 1890 held their graduation exercises, photos of 46 members of the group and their principal appeared in New Bedford’s South Coast Today | Standard-Times.
How did that happen?
Back in October, I tweeted a reply to the question asking what we were doing that weekend…
I received a direct message after the tweet from Linda Roy, Digital Producer of The Standard-Times, South Coast Today in New Bedford. She asked me to let her know when I completed the project.
Following completion of the research for each of the members of the 1890 New Bedford photo album in early December, I contacted Linda. She said she’d check out the research and pitch the story to her editor. On 14 December, she notified me that her editor green-lighted the story, and Linda sent me a list of questions to kick off the project. Two weeks later, the article was published.
The article was beautifully written and it was fabulous to see the group of 47 people that I’d become so close to through my research covered in their hometown paper.
They were a fascinating group! Find out for yourself – here are a few of my favorites…
