Anna Collins Ricketson was born 10 June 1871 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts to Charles Ricketson and Susan S. Smith.1

Anna lived with her parents and grandmother at 17 Allen Street in New Bedford during her childhood and attended Fifth Street Grammar School.2 Anna graduated from New Bedford High School in 1890.3


After high school, Anna attended Wellesley College from 1891-1892, then returned to New Bedford, where she lived with her parents.4 Anna’s father, Charles Wood Ricketson, died in 1908 and is buried in South Dartmouth Cemetery in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.5

Anna operated a tea room, wrote drama and music reviews, and continued living with her mother until her mother’s death in 1925.6 Anna remained living at 67 Allen Street, where she had lived with her mother, for the remainder of her life.7 Around 1930, Anna invested about $85,000 in stock, to which she later testified against the broker in 1932.8

In 1935, Anna attended her 45th reunion for the class of 1890 of New Bedford High School. She is pictured on the fourth row, second from the left in the photo.9


Anna Collins Ricketson died 16 June 1949.10Anna is buried in South Dartmouth Cemetery in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.11
