Grays Peak is the highest mountain (14,270 ft, 4349m) in the Front Range of the Southern Rocky Mountains.

Located fairly near Breckenridge and Keystone, it takes about 1 1/2 – 2 hours to reach the trailhead from Denver.

From the Grays Peak trailhead at Stevens Gulch at 11,280 ft, the climb up Grays is 3.5 miles to the summit, or a 3,040 feet elevation gain on a well-marked, straightforward path.

The summit is a great place for lunch with 360º views. We were fortunate to meet a couple from Massachusetts and enjoyed our lunch break getting to know them.

As usual, we arrived late, so we did not attempt Torreys to make sure we got down before afternoon storms rolled in.
