The Golden Fizz is cocktail number 41 on the Swank Cocktail Guide.
Golden Fizz cocktail
On the heels of the Gin Fizz, the Golden Fizz cocktail adds a yolk to the concoction. As described. in 1882 in The Boston Globe:
The Gin-Fizz is the Ordinary Indulgence.
It is cooling and it is good; moreover, it is simple and the most inexpert of barkeepers cannot fail in compounding it. Put some lemon juice into a glass, some sugar, some gin; shake it up with fine ice, our into a glass and dash the mixture with seltzer. The silver fizz is made in the same way, with the addition of the white of an egg beaten up. The golden fizz has the yolk of an egg.

The addition of the egg yolk makes the Golden Fizz a bit richer than the Gin Fizz and gives it the gorgeous golden color. But, both drinks are delicious. So, to avoid an egg by preference or for safety reasons, the Gin Fizz is a truly delightful cocktail.
We recognize this cocktail contains raw eggs so, while we made and enjoyed this cocktail, we don’t recommend drinking anything with raw eggs, so our advice is to skip this one.
