American Beauty is cocktail number seven on the Swank Cocktail Guide.

Quite a few different cocktail recipes are named the American Beauty Cocktail, but this one dates back to at least 1913 when it appeared in Straub’s Manual of Mixed Drinks as a punch.

A spectacular cocktail! The American Beauty is one of those cocktails that you have to remind yourself that it has quite a bit of spirit or you’d head back in to make another, and another…

We used a 20 year old vintage port because it was open, and probably a tad more than a little, but most likely any decent vintage port would be fine in this delectable beverage.

Next up… Cocktail #8, Applejack Sour
