Robert Allan Browne was born on 13 September 1925 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois to Richard Allan Browne and Margaret Frances Binder.1

Sadly, Robert’s father, Richard, died at the age of 29 when Robert was only one.2 Robert, his sister, Margaret, and his mother lived with his mother’s parents and siblings in Chicago following his father’s death.3

At the age of 18, Robert was working at Linde Air Products in Chicago.4
On 28 August 1948, Robert married Julia A. Phillis and the couple had six known children and three foster sons.5 The family moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1955 where Robert worked as both general manager of Tip Top Bakers at Ward Baking Company and also as a licensed practical nurse.6


Robert’s mother, Margaret F. Binder Browne, died at the age of 70 on 1 March 1973 in Santa Rosa, Sonoma California, California.7

Robert A. Browne died at the age of 63 on 25 November 1988 in South Bend.8 Robert is buried in Highland Cemetery in South Bend.9
