Hutchins Burton Faulkner, Jr. was born on the 20th September, between 1852-1854 in Trigg County, Kentucky to Hutchins Burton Faulkner Sr. and Elizabeth Gray Faulkner.1

Hutchins grew up in Trigg County on the family farm with his 11 siblings, Minerva Jane, Diana Harriet, Benjamin, Samuel, Mary, Charles, Susan, Richard, George, Robert, and Wilson Lee.2 His father died in 1865 during the Civil War.3
Hutchins. married Margaret Frances “Fanny” Mills on 4 October 1877 at the home of her parents, Charles W. Mills and Maryanne Miller Mills. Fanny’s brother, James Fountain Mills, was a witness, and her brother, Henry provided the marriage bond, along with H. B.4

Hutchins and Fanny made their home in Curtail, Hopkins County, Kentucky, and four known children were born to the couple, Mary Elizabeth, John, Charles, and Thomas Burton.5
It is believed Hutchins died in the spring of 1888; the location of his burial is unknown..6

1. The register containing Hutchin’s birth reads 1854 [scratched out] and 1852 on the front cover and 1853 on the first page. Typically, on these registers, the year on the first page was the year that the births were recorded and the births, for the most part, were the year before.
Hutchin’s birth is on page 4 of the and no year is listed on the page, just days and months.

Richard W. Faulkner: The birth record for Hutch’s brother, Richard Faulkner, is found in the 1854-1855 register and his headstone reads 2 July 1854 for his birth.
In 1860, H.B., Susan, and Richard were all enumerated in the H. B. Faulkner household.

As the Guardianship Bond was filed on 20 Apr 1888, Hutchins most likely Hutch died prior to that date, most likely in Hopkins County. No record of the death or burial has been found.
