Gertie Evelyn Tripp was born on 29 Mar 1872 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts to Richmond J. Tripp and Mary E. Ryder.1 In 1880, Gertie was living on 183 Kempton Street in New Bedford with her parents and sister, Luella.2

Gertie attended Middle Street Grammar School, then New Bedford High School, graduating in 1890.3

Gertie married Horace Carpenter on 7 July 1893 in New Bedford.4

The couple enjoyed a trip to Montreal in 1897.5 Sadly, Horace died of consumption at the age of 31 on 17 November 1898.6

Gertie lived with her parents after Horace’s death until she married Albert A. Bridgham on 30 June 1900.7 Gertie and Albert were married for just over eight years.8

Gertie married third to Joseph Gardner Dean on 28 June 1913 in New Bedford.9 The couple continued to live in New Bedford, where Gertie served as an appointed clerk in the Registrar of Voters office for New Bedford.10

Gertie’s father, Richmond J. Tripp, died in 1915 in New Bedford and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.11 Following her father’s death, Gertie and Joseph lived with Gertie’s mother, Mary, in New Bedford .12 Mary Ryder Tripp died about 1936 and is also buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.13

In 1935, Gertie attended her 45th high school reunion; she is on the first row, second from the right in the image. Joseph is in the fourth row, second from the right.14

Gertie Evelyn Tripp Dean died in 1937 in New Bedford and Joseph Gardner Dean died on 18 Feb 1961.15 Gertie and Joseph are buried in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts.16
