Daniel Taber Hillman was born on 24 August 1872 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts to Charles B. Hillman and Clarinda T. Gifford.1

During his childhood, Daniel lived at 118 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford with his parents and siblings, Nancy, Alexander, Lucy, and Charles.2 Daniel attended Fifth Street Grammar School, then New Bedford High School, graduating in 1890.3

Daniel lived with his parents and worked as a paymaster until he married just after the turn of the century.4. Daniel and Cornelia A. Bennett wed on 9 October 1901 in New Bedford.5

The couple made their home at 141 Summer in New Bedford with Cornelia’s mother, Esther Bennett, and soon welcomed a son to the family, Nelson Bennett, born on 27 August 1903 in New Bedford.6

Daniel’s father, Charles Benjamin Hillman died in 1906 in New Bedford at the age of 72.7 Charles Hillman is buried in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.8

Daniel’s mother, Clarinda Taber Hillman, died in 1919 at the age of 83. She is also buried in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.9

In 1920, Daniel, Cornelia, and Nelson were living in Fairhaven, Bristol County, Massachusetts where Daniel was working as a bookkeeper at cotton mill.10 Nelson married Elsie Mildred Worthington in 1926 in New Bedford.11 Daniel and Cornelia remained living in Fairhaven until about 1936.12

In 1935, Daniel and Cornelia attended Daniel’s 45th high school reunion in New Bedford.13

Cornelia A. Bennett Hillman died in 1938 and is buried in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.14

Daniel lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Elsie, in Maine until hear his death.15 Daniel Taber Hillman died at the age of 84 on 3 July 1957 and is buried in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.16

Daniel and Cornelia’s son, Nelson Bennett Hill, died on 6 July 1980 in Lewiston, Androscoggin County, Maine at the age of 76, and is buried in Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn, Androscoggin County, Maine.17
