Alice Maria Purrington was born in 1872 in Auburn, Androscoggin, Maine to Charles E. Purrington and Mary A. Goodenough.1 Alice’s parents had married in January 1872 in New Bedford.2

Alice and her parents lived at 61 Summer Street in New Bedford during her childhood and attended Middle Street Grammar School.3 Alice graduated from New Bedford High School in 1890.4


Following high school, Alice worked as a cashier and lived at 367 Kempton with her mother, Mary, who worked as a vest maker.5
Alice Maria Purrington died at the age of 22 of Phthisis on 4 December 1894 in New Bedford.6 Alice is buried in Joseph Davis Burial Ground Cemetery in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.7

Alice’s mother, Mary A. Goodenough Purrington, died on 18 December 1910 in New Bedford.8 Mary is also buried in Joseph Davis Burial Ground Cemetery in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusett.9

Alice’s father, Charles E. Purrington, died on 8 July 1916 in Auburn, Androscoggin, Maine.10 Charles is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, Maine.11
