Nov. 30, 1953 -March 1, 1999
John P. Browne, 45, of Coban, Central America, died on Monday, March 1, in the Pedro Hermano Hospital in Guatemala City, from injuries suffered in a bicycle accident which occurred on Feb. 16th in Coban.
John was born on Nov. 30, 1953, in Chicago, III., to Julia and Robert Browne, who moved their family to South Bend, Ind., in 1955. John was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Browne on Nov. 25, 1988.
John had been living in Central America since the mid-1970s where he did service for the Jehovahs Witness community. He was also the co-owner and operator of a small cafe in Coban.
John is survived by his mother, Julia A. Browne of Mishawaka, Ind.; a brother, Tim Browne of Huron, S.D.; four sisters, Susan Browne of New York City, Lynn Browne of Mishawaka, Patty Malm of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Jan Micinski of South Bend; three foster brothers, David Binder of Grand Haven, Mich., Jon Binder of Crown Point, Ind., and Brad Binder of South Bend; and by six nieces and nephews, D.J. and Sam Garwood, Josh and Kate Browne, and Kerry and Molly Malm.
Services were held in Guatemala City on Wednesday, March 3rd, and in Coban on Friday, March 5th. John loved life, his work and his family. We will miss him.
