21st Feb 1853 Congregation met pursuant to notice meeting organized by appointing Mr McCreary chairman.

The Deacons made their annul report which on motion was accepted

It was moved to reconsider the vote of last year fixing the sallery of Mr Miller curr.

It was moved to amend by striking out $6.00 and inserting $8.00 carried

It was moved that the members be required pay to Mr Miller ½ of their anual subscription carried

It was moved that a committee of four two males and two females be appointed to mange the music of the church. carried

The above com to consist of J Joseph Sprout Wm Sawhill Haney McCurdry and Sarah Sprout

On motion the meeting adjourned

Monday June 1853

Congregation part pursuant to notice organised by electing Dr Patterson to the chair. The object of the meeting being stated by Mr Alexander to be to take into consideration the subject of supplying the church with regular preaching

It was moved that Mr Miller be invited to remain with us under the former arrangement until the 1st of Jan. next, Carried

It was moved that the congregation be required to pay the usual salery as levied on the pews (carried)

The Deacons then reported and there being a deficiency in the salary of $12.78 it was moved that there be a subscription taken to meet that deficience which was carried and the amount made up

It was moved that there be a subscription taken for the benefit of Mr Alexander carried

On motion meeting adjourned

August 29th 1853

Congregation met pursuant to call opened by prayer and organized by appointing Mr Brown Chairman

The object of the meeting was then stated by Mr Alexander which was to take into consideration the disolution of the pastoral relation now existing between himself and this congregation. And asked the consent of the congregation to such dissolution. It was moved that the request of Mr Alexander be granted, carried,

Mr Caldwell offered the following resolutions which were addopted with the preamble

At a congregation meeting of the Presbyterian Church of Washington Guernsey County this called by the Pastor to obtain their consent to the disolution of the pastoral relation it was unanimously considered due both to themselves and their Pastor to connect the following resolutions with their consent

1st Resolved That our Pastor the Rev J. E. Alexander during his residence of ten years among us, has always both in the sanctuary and in his more private intercourse with us both by his public administration of and his excellent example commended himself to our highest Christian regard Our sympathy our prayers and every other aid. And that now his seperation from us is a matter of painful regret to us all. And could not get our consent if it were not for the circumstance that he himself urges it on account of his impared health

2nd Resolved that we express to himself and his family one strong sympathy in their affliction

3d Resolved that the hope of his remaining among as is an alleviation of our regret. And if he can consent to occupy some other part of usefulness among us he may be assured of our cordial consent and support and our helping influence

4th Resolved that we request the publication of the above resolutions in P. Preacher Presbyterian of the west & Presbyterian Banner

Friday Oct 14th 1853

Congregation met pursuant to notice for the purpose of electing a Pastor

Rev J E Alexander by invitation acting as moderator read the articles of the constitution regulating the election of Pastors. whereupon the meeting proceeded to ballott which resulted in the unanimous choice of Rev M Miller.

It was moved that a call be made out for ¾ of Mr Millers time with the sum of 400 dollars inserted & signed by the Elders & Deacons of the church carried
