This photograph was purchased in Sandwich, Massachusetts in 2021. The name “Jim Wade” was written on the back.
According to Chris Steele and Ronald Polito’s A Directory of Massachusetts Photographers, 1839-1900, Online Edition, the photographer, Barton Sprague, operated at 21 Temple Place in Boston from 1866-1868.1

James Wades in Boston in 1870
James C. Wade (1835-1903), estimated age in 1867: 31
James C. Wade was born in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts on 20 Apr 1835 to Nathaniel Wade, born in Ireland, and Jane Smith, born in Sudbury, Massachusetts.2 In 1870, James C. Wade was 35, single, and working as a clerk in Boston.3 James died at the age of 67 in 1903 and is buried in North Cemetery in Wayland, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4
