Jacob S. Newell was born circa 1795.1 Jacob married Elizabeth Wolcott “Betsey” Manley, the daughter of Shaubel Manley about 1816.2 Elizabeth was born 31 October 1797 in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.3 Jacob and Elizabeth had five known children:

Elizabeth Manley Newell died of consumption at the age of 47 on 5 September 1843 in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.6 Jacob married second to Julia Bosworth Hubbard, the widow of George Hubbard, on 12 February 1844 in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.7 Julia, born on 29 June 1803 in Sandisfield, the daughter of Orman and Jerusha Bosworth.8
Jacob and Julia moved first to North East Dutchess County, New York, and then on to Harmony, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.9
Jacob and Julia lived near Jacob’s sons, Gilbert, Almer, and Harmon, and the Hubbards, Lyons, Taylor, and Holdridge families.10
Jacob S. Newell died in 1863, most likely in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.11

Julia Bosworth Newell died on 16 March 1889 in Richville, De Kalb, St. Lawrence County, New York.12 Julia is buried in Wayside Cemetery in Richville.13
