The Poll Book is a register that was used to record votes for an election that occurred on Saturday, 16 May 1863, in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois. Judges for the election were T. S. Hubbard, Wm McShall (William M. C. Shaul), and William Davis, . The “book” is made of several sheets of paper pinned together; the pages are approximately 12 1/2 inches by 4 inches (folded, actual paper is 8 inches wide).
It is unknown the purpose of the 16 May 1863 election, however, it is possible it was held to elect the Board of Trustees. Those elected to the board in 1863, all who voted in the 16 May election, were: President, J. S. Denny (voter 106); Clerk, M. V. Denny (107); Treasurer, Alexander Buie (87); H. B. Alexander (3), Lemuel Adams (20), D. H. Kingsbury (96), W. H. Williams (185).

Poll Book Names – Alphabetical list and research
The following chart contains the names in the poll book in alphabetical order. The “possibly” column is a likely or possible person living in Bond County about 1863. If the person was enumerated in the 1860 U.S. census, their age and their dwelling number are found in the final two columns. The surnames are in alphabetical order as the name was recorded; some were spelled incorrectly or appear to have been changed over times (ex., McCausey to Causey, listing is found as Mc).
If the name has a link, it connects to the location where the person is found in the History of Bond and Montgomery Counties, Illinois, published in 1882, by William Henry Perrin or Historical Souvenir of Greenville, Illinois, published in 1905 by Will C. Carson.
Marriage and death dates link to the record or obituary and burial information link to a sourced Find A Grave or cemetery records. If a person is listed as “possibly” died or “possibly” buried, it is from an unsourced Find A Grave with no headstone, and not found in death records.
If the Census column has a link, it links to the page where the household of the individual is found on the U. S. 1860 Bond County census (at Family Search).
