Q. If God is so great and good a Father, should we not love him with all the heart?

A. We should “love him with all the heart, with all the understanding, and all the strength.”

Q. If we all have one Father, should we not love one another, and live as brethren?

A. We should love our neighbours as ourselves, and do good to all as we have opportunity.

Q. Have we not then all gone astray from God?

A. “All we like sheep have gone astray” by sin.

Q. What is sin?

A. Sin is a transgression of God’s law.

Q. What is the wages of sin?

A. “The wages of sin is death.”

Q. Is there any way in which sinners may be saved?

A. There is a way revealed in the gospel.

Q. Where may the gospel be found?

A. in the New Testament.

Q. What is meant by the Gospel?

A. Good news of peace and salvation for sinners.

Q. By whom did God send this blessed news?

A. “God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ.”

Q. Who is Jesus Christ?

A. “The Son of the living God.”

Q. What was the song of angels when Jesus was born?

A. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace; good will towards men.”

Q. Why was the Son of God called Jesus?

A. Because Jesus signified Saviour, and “the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the World.”

Q. Why was he called Christ or the Messiah?

A. These titles signify the anointed.

Q. Who anointed Jesus?

A. “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.”

Q. What did Jesus do after he was anointed?

A. He went about doing good, healing the sick, the lame and the blind, and preaching the glad tidings of great joy.
