Obediah Hooper was born on 16 Oct 1836 in Illinois to Thomas King Hooper and Rumina Dunn Hooper.1

Obediah married Elizabeth Wickham on 9 Mar 1862 in Bourbon County, Kansas at the house of her sister and brother-in-law, Etna Ecart and Sarah Wickham Ecart.2 Obediah and Elizabeth had seven children: Rebecca, John, Henry, Sarah Ellen, and Mary, and two that died in childhood, William T. and a second unknown infant.3 The family lived on 160 acres in Neosha County that Obediah purchased in 1872.4

Obediah died of typhoid fever on 23 Jan 1880 at the age of 43 and is buried in Frogge Cemetery, McCune, Crawford County, Kansas.5

Obediah died intestate and Elizabeth remained in Neosho County until her death at her home in Lincoln Township in 1913.6 Elizabeth is also buried in Frogge Cemetery, McCune, Crawford County, Kansas.7
