Fair

It is New Years Day to day. We stayed up last night; Bennie, Mama & I to watch it in.

There was a cannon shot off at Rehoboth, & a bell rang in S. Dighton & Westville. Silence reigned in the centre of Taunton. I went to bed about 12.30.

Mama went down the street this morning & then forgot the bank books & had to go again.

Helped Mama this morning & trotted down to Bush this afternoon & got the girls to come up to Scudder’s then we all went back to Bush, I had a fine time.

Helped Mama this morning & went skating this afternoon. I had an elegant time.

We went skating tonight after school on Bush. Sophie & Alice P came to night. I got a tow of nearly every boy I knew that was there. During supper Hattie Lewis came over for us to go & we went up for Ethel Chandler & Lottie Conant. Quite a lot of boys (Irish) were there. We had a fine time before supper.

Bert finished the lace she was making before supper. Took my skates to school this afternoon, But it rained all afternoon so couldn’t go. Scudders was just grand too. The best it has been this winter.

Read after supper. Came right home after school.

We went skating on Bush about 10 minutes & then it began to rain so we came home Mrs. Robbins lent us an umbrella. It snowed around 6 or 6.15 P.M. Had my seat changed over to the boys’ side to day for whispering. The girls were a great deal sorrier than I was.

Went over to Robbins this noon to take back the umbrella she lent us. After school I went over to Ethelle Chandler’s & then we went coasting. We coasted on Alfred Jackson’s double runner it is growing very cold.

Stanley went back this morning as he has got to work today. Went down to Brasselle’s this afternoon. This morning Ben went over to Walkers’ for some butter & he came back he met Mr. Q. Dore, well, when he got back we were astounded us with the news that the Big Cattle Show Barn had been burnt down about 4 P.M.

Went skating after school & was going after supper, but the Lewis’s didn’t come for us so we didn’t go. It was slightly drizzly anyway.

Went skating after school. Had a fine time. We (Bert, I & Hattie Lewis & Charlie) went skating after supper. Quite a few (about 6 or 7) boys were there.

Helped Mama & went down street this A.M. This afternoon went to “The Bosom Friend of Mr. Bowser & it was foolishly bum. We eat some supper than went down to the pong, skated about 10 minutes; then went down to Tanny W’s to see if she was coming, then over to Brasselle’s for them, back again to Websters, found M. & A. Perkins were there & all went skating. D. & R. Brasselle, C, D, & R., Josselyn E. Hoxie & C. Whitely were the boys there. Isabelle came to stay all night.
