Tell us a bit about your genealogy/family history journey
I became obsessed with food when I was little…I even made my own ice cream flavors! Genealogy entered my life when I was 12, thanks to a family reunion in New Brunswick, Canada. I took the one-year culinary program and graduated (with honors) from the Art Institute of Seattle in 2005. I finally decided to combine my two favorite passions and create my niche, culinary genealogy!
Favorite food or beverage
Surnames of interest
If you could meet one person from your family tree that died before you were born, who would it be and why?
My 3rd great grandfather, Judah Leib Gordon. He was a famous poet from Lithuania and I would love to ask him about his writing process and what inspires him.
Genealogy pet peeve
Genealogists who block others for petty reasons.
Favorite place where you’ve traveled
I’ve been to London three times!
From a genealogy/family history research perspective, what would you have done differently?
I wish I focused more on genealogy sooner but the pandemic gave me to the time to nurture it and grow.
What are you currently working on and what’s next?
I am figuring out a business approach as The DNA Chef. Stay tuned!
